The Ogden FMCW Radar
The Ogden radar has been developed over many years experience to address the particular
safety problems of reversing machines in quarries and mines. An effective hazard
detection system has to address two conflicting requirements. It must respond
to objects which present a hazard but it should not respond to objects which do
not present a hazard. This has led to the development of some unique features
of the Ogden radar.
Intelligent Warning System
This system gives sequential warnings of approaching hazards. Special software
in the Ogden radar identifies distance, speed and direction of movement to eliminate
unwanted warnings, while removing the need to rely on reverse gear switches.
Sensor Vision
Combines the Ogden radar with a CCTV system to give the best of both worlds. Audible
and visual warning to the driver when a hazard approaches, with the TV switching
on automatically to show the hazard.
VMS
The Ogden radar system with automatic braking. The fail safe system for busy machines
in busy areas where a warning may be too late.
VMS Vision
The combination of Sensor Vision with VMS. Automatic braking
but with pre-warning and the TV switching on to show the hazard.
Other applications
The Ogden FMCW radar is used to create a protection zone beneath
access platforms to prevent accidental contact. It is also used on special purpose
machines in the steel industry and railway maintenance.
Other special applications can be developed as requested.
